Getting to Tenerife
Tailor-made packages for Lady golfers

FLYING
Flights generally take 4 hours from the UK and Ireland and with a tailwind from Gatwick you can frequently reach Tenerife South in 3hours 30minutes.

Tenerife has two airports:
Sur Reina Sofia - Tenerife South
The majority of UK & Ireland flights arrive here and is the ideal airport if you have booked accommodation in the South and West of the island.

Tenerife Los Rodeos - Tenerife North
The recommended airport to fly into if you are staying in Santa Cruz, Puerto de la Cruz and the regions in the North of the island.

Let us arrange your airport transfers.
As we are based on the island, we can easily arrange personal airport transfers. Just ask when booking your holiday.

BOOKING FLIGHTS
We are not flight specialists, but we do work closely with Travel Counsellors (UK) who we feel provide a professional and friendly personal service, they will find you the flights that suit you, at a reasonable cost, often matching the best internet prices you can find. (Voted the UK’s best Travel Agent in 2006 by readers of the Guardian & Observer)

Please ask about flights and we can put you in touch with our Tenerife Flights expert

DRIVING
Hate flying? …then drive here! You can still easily reach Tenerife by road…it might seem a little extreme, but it is the best way in our opinion, of getting here. It can be done in 4 days, but you can take 4 weeks or 4 months, depending on your timescale and budget.

There are numerous routes through France and Spain, just make sure your final port of call is Cadiz in southern Spain as this is where the Transmediterranea ferry departs to take you and your vehicle to the Canary Islands. The ferry leaves in the early hours of Sunday morning and arrives in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Tuesday morning. Thirty six hours of relaxation…with a pool, on deck solarium, three bars, two restaurants and never ending views with sunsets and sunrises that take your breath away.

The experience by car is so much richer and every ‘stop off’ is a holiday break all on its own. The roads on the continent are dramatically quieter than in the UK, so you’ll love the stress free driving experience that awaits you.

OUR TIPS FOR DRIVING TO TENERIFE

  • Check out ViaMichelin.com to plan your route options, but use good maps of France & Spain too.
  • Buy European breakdown cover, carry your driving licence and papers of car ownership with you.
  • Phrase book….not everyone in Spain speaks English!
  • Carry your first aid kit, warning triangle, fire extinguisher, headlight beam reflectors and spare set of lamp bulbs. These are required by law in France and Spain. If you have air conditioning in the car make sure it is working for your trip, as it gets hotter in Southern Spain. Failing that, get a hand held battery powered fan or two, they are really quite a life saver in the heat.
  • Always carry plenty of drinking water in the car.
  • Do as the Spanish do ….have a cheeky siesta.
  • As silly as it sounds, remember to drive on the right hand side of the road!

What we loved:

  • Wide open country, far reaching views and empty stretches of road
  • Fields of sunflowers and vines
  • Croissants & coffee, sampling French and Spanish wine (for experimental purposes only!) at the end of the day and Tapas by the bucket load.
  • Eagles and Vultures flying high above on the thermals
  • Storks and their incredible nests.

OUR TIPS FOR THE FERRY

  • If there are 2 of you travelling book your cabin for 2 only, (they are all 4 berth) otherwise you will each be allocated a single sex cabin which is shared with other travellers.
  • Get to the ticket office in Cadiz as early as you can to pick up your pre-booked ferry tickets, otherwise you will literally be in the queue for anything up to 3 hours – yes indeedy so!
  • Have dinner in the Captains Dining Room rather than queue in the cafeteria. The Menu del Dia is very reasonable and the waiter service is well worth the extra expense.
  • If you can’t tear yourself away from your pet, there are kennels/cattery on board!
  • If you´re an early riser try to get up to see the dawn rise over the Atlantic.
